What do our books say about us?

It has been said that you can tell a lot about a person by their body language (folded arms = a person who is closed off, arms that grope you = a person who is unfortunately not closed off enough), the contents of their fridge (bottle of champagne = social person who loves the company of others, 12 bottles of champagne = far too many nights spent without the company of others) and the friends that they keep.

But what about the books that we read?

Do the books that you read reflect who you are or perhaps a season in life that you are going through?
If this is the case, are our selections in reading material rational, or are they deep messages from our subconscious?

I believe that the books on our bed side table sometimes are a reflection on our hopes, desires, and the season of life we are currently in.
On the flip side, I wonder how often I am tainted in my selections by what is on the bestseller list, what book everyone is talking about and, dare I say it, how pretty the cover is?

What about you? What influences what you read and what does it say about you?
